FPL Scout Extra: Managers should consider Moreno move

Scout says Jurgen Klopp's faith in well-priced full-back should make FPL managers take notice

Jurgen Klopp's first few weeks as Liverpool manager will be defined by how quickly the players adapt to his tactical demands.
The German favours "gegenpressing" – the art of winning the ball back straight after possession has been lost – which involves players committing themselves to a high-tempo shift whenever they step on to the pitch.

First impressions from Gameweek 9 were positive. Liverpool became the only Barclays Premier League side to cover more distance in a match than Tottenham Hotspur this season as Klopp's charges ran a combined 116km, beating Spurs' record of 114.8km.
Saturday's goalless draw gave Liverpool their first clean sheet since Gameweek 3, sending out a signal to Fantasy Premier League managers to consider a re-assessment of their defensive assets.
Klopp's philosophy could usher in a period of new-found solidity at Anfield, while, significantly, his desire to allow his full-backs licence to get forward should have a major effect on key individuals, most notablyAlberto Moreno.
The Spaniard has had a stop-start BPL season to date. Involved in eight of the nine matches so far, he only made the starting XI for the first time in Gameweek 6 and has kept his place since.
The season-ending injury to 18-year-old Joe Gomez appears to have cemented Moreno's starting role and early signs are that he is beginning to grasp the opportunity to shine.

In Klopp's system against Spurs, Moreno was a major attacking force, regularly pushing into advanced positions when Liverpool had possession.
He created two goalscoring opportunities and fired in a pair of goal attempts himself, including an effort from a direct free-kick. That display was by no means a one-off.
Moreno has created 15 chances for team-mates over the last four Gameweeks, at least twice that of any other BPL defender aside from AFC Bournemouth's Charlie Daniels.

Chances created: 15
Scoring chances made: 1 per 28.8mins
Assist: 1
Clean sheet: 1
Minutes played: 360
FPL points: 17
Overall, Moreno has created a goalscoring opportunity every 28.8 minutes. To put this into perspective, the leading FPL defender, Manchester City's Aleksandar Kolarov, has created a chance every 49.7 minutes, while Moreno's team-mate, the 30%-owned Nathaniel Clyne, is producing a chance created every 171.2 minutes.
Moreno's chance-creation output is close to that of big midfield figures such as David Silva (26.7min),Eden Hazard (27.8min) and matches that achieved by Arsenal’s chief architect, Santi Cazorla.
At £4.7million, Moreno is the cheapest regular defender in the Liverpool squad and while the Reds' immediate schedule is a mixed bag, with home matches against Southampton and Crystal Palace offset by tough trips to Chelsea and Man City, their run-up to Christmas warrants attention.
Liverpool will face Swansea City, Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and Watford, fixtures that mark Moreno out as a long-term investment during the early days of Klopp's BPL career.
In light of his recent showings, Moreno looks set to be an asset with the potential to feed Klopp's attacking ploys, while remaining integral to Liverpool's quest for clean sheets.
